Glasses have made tremendous changes in the lifestyles and technologies of human life. A few notable examples are windows, bottles, lightbulbs optical fibers and information displays. Recently, glasses expanded their territories to photovoltaic, rechargeable batteries and other innovations. In addition, a large amount of effort has been devoted to the applications of new functional glasses for illumination, biosensing, energy-saving devices and windows as well as energy storage and conversion. This symposium will deal with a wide spectrum of glass science and technology from fundamental aspects of glass structures to various optical and chemical applications.
